Phoenician limestone inscription from Cyprus. This object is part of the Cesnola inscriptions, found on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. It is a fragment of an inscribed box, a votive offering (ex-voto) dedicated to the Lady of Paphos. Paphos is a coastal city in the south-western part of Cyprus. The Phoenician culture spread across the Mediterranean between 1500 BC and 300 BC. This object is part of the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, USA.
