Description
Reykjavik city centre. Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland. Nearly all of the hot water in Reykjavik is obtained from natural geothermal sources. Iceland lies on the boundary between two tectonic plates (on which the continents are carried), and as such is very geologically active. Much of its energy is derived from natural sources such as geothermal and hydroelectric power. These energy sources are non-polluting and essentially inexhaustible, making Iceland a clean and environmentally friendly country. Photographed in 2003.
