Description
Manfredi's astronomy lectures. Title page of Instituzioni Astronomiche (Astronomy Institute, 1749), a collection of university lectures by the Italian Jesuit astronomer Eustachio Manfredi (1674-1739). The Italian text gives the book's title, the phrase opera postuma" (posthumous work), and the author's name. The text then names the author as a professor of mathematics and astronomy at the Bologna Science Institute, and an associate member of the Royal Societies of London and Paris. The central artwork is surmounted by a Latin quote."
