Description
Titanic. Artwork of the liner Titanic sinking during the night of 14 April 1912 during her first and last voyage. The Titanic was 268 metres long and weighed 67,000 tonnes, making it the largest ship at the time. The Titanic's hull had 16 watertight compartments and many people thought that these made it unsinkable. During the voyage to America the Titanic struck an iceberg on the night of 14 April 1912 which punctured 5 compart- ments. The ship sank in three hours with the loss of 1503 lives. The location of the Titanic's wreck was found in September 1985 by a French-American team using robot submarines. Artwork painted by one of the survivors of the disaster.
