Dual carriageway street lighting. Time-exposure image of car lights and street lights along a dual carriageway. Each street light has a photoelectric switch that is sensitive to light. As the light levels fall as the Sun sets (as here), the switches triggers the lights, turning them on. Such switches are based on light-dependent resistors (LDRs). Photographed in the UK.
