Description
Equipment for gel electrophoresis. Elements of a kit to demonstrate the principles of electrophoresis using coloured dyes. The largest component is a gel bath with a buffer solution. The dyes are put into small wells in the gel and a current is applied across the cell. The different components of each dye move at different rates through the gel, based on their size and electric charge. This is essentially the same process as the one used in analysing fragments of DNA.
