Description
Channel Tunnel train. View of the Eurostar test train in its depot. The Eurostar train is to be used on rail services through the Channel Tunnel, linking London with Paris and Brussels. The test train has two power cars and seven coaches; the service trains will have twenty carriages. During trials in France, the test train reached speeds of 200 kilometres per hour. Testing will continue on routes in London and South-East England. Full-size trains will be delivered in late 1993 and early 1994, with the start of services planned for the summer. Investment in the project, including the vast North Pole International Depot at Acton, London, had reached #970 million by mid-1993.
