Description
Cerebral vasculitis. Angiogram (blood vessel X-ray) of the brain of a 22-year-old female drug addict with HIV, showing vasculitis of the intracranial arteries inside the skull. Vasculitis in an inflammation of the blood vessel walls. When occurring in the brain (such as here) it may produce a wide range of neurological symptoms, such as headache, difficulty in moving or coordination, changes in sensation, and alterations in perception thought or behaviour. There is also the possibility of a mass lesion in the brain leading to coma and herniation.
