Description
Wernher von Braun and Walt Disney. German-American rocket scientist and aerospace engineer Wernher von Braun (1912-1977, right) and US film producer and animation pioneer Walt Disney (1901-1966). Von Braun developed the V-2 rocket during World War II but later played a central role in developing the rockets used in NASA's Apollo missions to the Moon. In the 1950s, while working in California on the Saturn project, Von Braun also worked with Disney studios as a technical director in making three films about Space Exploration for television. Photographed during a visit to the Marshall Space Flight Center, Alabama, USA, in 1954.
