Description
Titanic lifeboat carrying survivors from the ship's sinking. The Titanic, the largest ocean liner ever built at the time, was reputed to be unsinkable. However, during its maiden voyage it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the night of the 14 April 1912. The ship sank within 3 hours with the loss of 1517 lives. It had 20 lifeboats, but many were launched half-empty or too late. 705 passengers and crew survived in the lifeboats and were rescued by the ocean liner Carpathia the next morning. This is one of the Titanic's standard, non-collapsable lifeboats.
