Description
Leg bones of 18-month-old infant, frontal X-ray. This X-ray shows the normal ossification centres for a child of this age, where the bones and joints are still developing and have not yet fully formed. This is most clearly seen by the shape of the bones and the spaces in the knee and hip joints. Primary ossification centres are present in the shaft of the bones. Secondary ossification centres are present at the ends of the bones, where they articulate at the joints.
