Description
Apollo 17 landing site on Moon, perspective view. The view overlays a digital terrain model with data from the Hubble Space Telescope. This is the Taurus-Littrow valley on the Moon, explored by humans in December 1972. The view here looks west to east. The data from Hubble was obtained on 16 August 2005 by the Advanced Camera for Surveys instrument, during a survey that used ultraviolet and optical imaging to search for lunar mineral deposits.
