Description
Quartz and other crystals. Rock containing quartz and other unidentified crystals. The small colourless prisms are the quartz (silicon dioxide). The orange colour is probably due to leaching of iron rich compounds from the substrate rock onto the other crystals. Quartz is one of the most common minerals, making up around 12% of the Earth's crust. It is an igneous rock, crystallising from molten magma.
