Description
D-Zero particle detector. View of the D-Zero particle detector at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) near Chicago, USA. The central part of the detector is contained in the grey cylinder, with outer parts arrayed outside it. The detector, which is as big as a two-storey house, consists of many sub-elements which all help to record, measure, and identify subatomic particles created in high-energy proton- antiproton collisions in Fermilab's Tevatron collider. Completed in 1991, D-Zero co-discovered the top quark in 1995.
