Description
From the Book of the Dead, Papyrus of Ani. This vignette represents the Sunrise and consists of several elements. The sisters of Osiris, Isis and Nephthys kneel in adoration either side of the Tat, a symbol for Osiris, which stands on the solar mount. The sign of life, or Ankh, rises out of the Tat and raises the Sun on hands which proceed from it. Six cynocephali, dog-headed Spirits of the Dawn, also raise their hands in adoration. Many images of Egyptian Gods and Goddesses are shown with the symbol Ankh in their hands.
