Ani has been judged favourably and now he and his wife Tutu prepare for the journey into the afterlife. Here they are playing the board game senet, a metaphor for journeying into the next world. Next, their ba spirits) are shown as human headed birds perched above their tomb. The two lions flanking the sun disk represent 'yesterday' and 'tomorrow' otherwise Osiris and Ra followed by the soul of the sun-god Re (Ra) in the form of a benu, a phoenix-like bird. The lotus flower signifies dawn. The two birds either side of the mummy represent Isis and Nephthys. From the Papyrus of Ani ''Book of the Deadā?.
