Description
Collection of hominid fossil skulls discovered during expeditions at East Turkana, Kenya during the 1970s and 1980s. The expeditions were under the direction of Richard Leakey. The skulls are, from left Homo habilis, also known as the 1470 skull, Homo erectus & Australopithecus robustus. Also visible are hominid limb bones and mandibles. These three species were contemporaneous at around 1.5 million years ago. Their find in the same geological deposits put an end to the single-line hypothesis, stating that human evolution, unlike other mammals, progressed without variations, extinctions or proliferations of species.
