Description
Weather and air pollution station. Solar powered weather station in a field. This station houses instruments that measure local environmental parameters. The instrument at upper left is an anemometer or wind gauge, which is used to measure wind speeds. The device at upper right is a vane that indicates wind direction. The black cylindrical device (right) houses a thermometer and a humidity probe. The solar panels (centre, blue) provide power to operate the station. To the left of the panels are two sensors that record levels of nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide in the atmosphere. Photographed in Northumberland National Park, UK.
