Description
Veined octopus (Amphioctopus marginatus) sheltering in an old broken glass bottle. The veined, or coconut, octopus often buries itself in sand or mud but will use any available debris (such as this discarded bottle) as a shelter. It is well-known for hiding in large shells, particularly discarded coconut shells. When on the move it takes its shelter with it. Photographed in the Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
