Description
Tundra pond. During the warmer summer months the surface snows melt, forming freshwater ponds. These are a breeding ground for mosquitoes, midges and other insects. They are also an important habitat for birds and aquatic vegetation. Photographed in the North East Greenland National Park, Greenland.
