Description
Tun shell (Tonna galea). Coloured X-ray showing the spiral shell of this marine snail that lives in warm areas of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. It can reach 25 centimetres in size. This snail is carnivorous, killing or paralysing its prey by injecting them with sulphuric acid through its jaw plates. The snail then tears chunks of flesh from its victim.
