Description
Tor grass, or false brome grass (Brachypodium pinnatum - grows in patches in lavandin fields in Provence. It is a host plant to many species of Auchenorrhyncha, a sap sucking group of insects, that spread viral and fungal diseases that may damage crops. However, as Lavandin is a natural pest deterrent it is unlikely to be a significant problem. This perennial false brome grass flowers from June-August in calcareous soil. Provence, France.
