Description
Titanic lifeboats. Two lifeboats carrying survivors from the sinking of the Titanic. The Titanic, the largest ocean liner ever built at the time, was reputed to be unsinkable. However, during its maiden voyage it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the night of the 14 April 1912 and sank. The ship sank in 3 hours with the loss of 1503 lives. 705 passengers and crew that managed to make it into lifeboats were picked up by the ocean liner Carpathia, after it heard Titanic's distress call.
