Henrichenburg boat lift, Germany, engraving. This is the old boat lift on the Dortmund-Ems canal, which was opened in 1899. Its completion allowed boats to reach Dortmund Harbour, which was 14 metres above the level of the canal. The lift was capable of lifting boats that weighed up to 350 tonnes
