Description
South American common toad (Bufo margaritifer) in leaf litter. Also known as sapo crestado, this is a species of toad in the Bufonidae family. Toads are adapted to drier habitats than frogs, but like frogs, use their sticky tongues to catch flies and other insects. This toad is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Photographed in South America.
