Description
Snake-spotted millipedes (Blaniulus guttulatus) feeding on an apple. These millipedes are minor agricultural pests that affect root crops such as sugar beet and potatoes. They infest holes in the crop (as seen here) that were created by other pests such as slugs. The snake-spotted millipede excretes chemicals from its glands (red spots) as a form of defence.
