Description
Cassini image of the storm, known as the hexagon, at Saturn's north pole. At centre is the eye of a hurricane-like storm that spins anticlockwise around the north pole. The eye measures approximately 2000 kilometres across. Winds in the storm's inner ring move at up to 150 metres per second. Within the storm are smaller vortices, some of which rotate clockwise. The white vortice at lower centre measures approximately 3,500 kilometres across. Colour filters have been applied: red - tropospheric cloud deck, green - methane, blue - small aerosols. Image obtained by the spacecraft's narrow-angle camera on 10th December 2012.
