Description
Saturn and moons. Composite image of Saturn and some of its moons, the planetary system which will be studied by the Cassini spacecraft. The moons of the ringed planet are (from inner to outer): Mimas, Enceladus, Tethys, Dione, Rhea, Titan and Hyperion (foreground). Saturn is mostly comprised of hydrogen and helium gas, whilst its moons are made mostly of frozen water. Cassini will complete 93 orbits within the Saturnian system for four years from July 2004. It will also deploy the Huygens probe which will land on Titan in November 2004. This image was made by combining Voyager 2 images of Saturn and its moons with an artwork of the surface of Hyperion.
