Description
Sandhill crane (Grus canadensis) courtship. Male (right) jumping in the air to impress a female (left) as part of a courtship ritual. This bird is found in wetlands throughout North America. It wades in shallow water using its beak to probe for food, including seeds, berries and insects. It can reach a height of 1 metre and a wingspan of up to 2 metres. Photographed in Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Reserve, New Mexico, USA.
