Description
Kidney renal corpuscle. Computer graphic of a renal corpuscle in the human kidney. In the renal corpuscle, waste products pass from the blood into a kidney filtering unit. At centre is a glomerulus (yellow), a knot of tiny capillaries from the renal artery. The glomerulus occurs in Bowman's capsule (dark blue). Waste products and excess water in the blood pass from the glomerulus into the space of Bowman's capsule. This space is the start of a tubule system which filters and concen- trates waste products. Part of the tubule system is seen (top frame, at left) around the renal corpuscle. Urine is formed in this way, which then passes into the ureter and bladder.
