Description
Raccoons. View of a mother raccoon (Procyon lotor) with her young at an icy river's edge. they are both washing their paws in the water. A fully grown raccoon has a body length of 60-105 cm and a body weight of up to 22 kg. It preys on mice, poultry, birds' eggs, insects, fish and frogs. The raccoon will usually hunt at night. It inhabits forests in the vicinity of ponds, lakes and streams often close to civilisation. The raccoon ranges from southern Canada to South America. Photographed in the Uinta National Forest, Utah, USA.
