Description
Purkinje fibres, fluorescence deconvolution micrograph. Fluorescent dyes have been used to highlight tissues, cellular structures and proteins: nerve tissue (red), actin (green), cell nuclei (blue). Actin is a contractile muscle protein. The neurofilaments (red) are the Purkinje fibres, specialised heart tissue that helps to conduct the electrical impulse triggering a heartbeat.
