Description
Scientists preparing the HyBIS (Hydraulic Benthic Interactive Sampler) robotic underwater vehicle (RUV) for launch. The vehicle will be used to locate and investigate hydrothermal vents on the Mid-Cayman Rise. For this expedition HyBIS, which can operate at depths of up to 6000 meters, is carrying three video cameras and a hydraulic scoop sample collector. Photographed on board RRS James Cook in 2010.
