Description
MODEL RELEASED. Preparing a suture for stitching. Surgeon placing a needle with a suture (thread) in a pair of forceps, which are used to ensure a strong grip for stitching during surgery. Sutures (stitches) are used to close surgical cuts. Several sterile materials can be used as a suture, some of which are absorbed by the body and so do not have to be removed once the wound has healed. Photographed at St. Mary's Hospital in Lacor, Gulu, Uganda.
