Description
Overwhelmingly large telescope (OWL). Computer artwork of OWL, an optical and near-infrared telescope proposed by the European Southern Observatory. If built, the telescope's segmented mirror would have a diameter of 100 metres, making it the largest in the world. This would give it unparalleled light-gathering capability, and very high resolution for studying the universe.
