Description
Fog in the North Sea. False-colour satellite image of north-west Europe, showing a large fog bank in the North Sea (pale yellow). The colours of surface features have been processed to approximate to natural tones. The British Isles and the coasts of northern Europe and Scandinavia are seen clearly. Thin, high-level clouds are seen over parts of Germany and Austria (bottom right), partially obscuring the snow-covered Alps. Most of Sweden (top right) is also covered in snow. The reddish tints on the left are due to sunglint from the water of the Atlantic - the Sun was at a low illumination angle at the time of this image made by an NOAA satellite.
