Nuclear missile base security. Military personnel on horseback patrol a ridge. Beyond is seen the upper part of a Crotale surface-to-air missile launcher, manufactured by Thomson-CSF. Surface patrols and an air exclusion zone guarded the nuclear IRBM (intermediate-range ballistic missile) base at Plateau d'Albion, France. The base was decommissioned in 1998.
