Description
Cherry blackfly (Myzus cerasi) infestation on shoot tips Pests of cherry trees Black cherry aphid overwinter in the egg stage eggs having been deposited on trunks branches or buds. Fundatrices emerge in March-April. Several generations follow each other feeding on the tip of shoots of cherry or on the underside of leaves causing the leaves to form compact bundles visited by ants.Winged aphids emerge in June-July migrating to secondary hosts on which they will breed. A return migration to cherry takes place in the autumn and winter eggs are eventually laid.
