Description
Mozambique nightjar (Caprimulgus fossii) roosting on the ground. Nightjars are insectivorous aerial hunters that are most active at dusk. They have been called goatsuckers because they are seen fluttering around livestock, though they actually feed on flying beetles and moths. The Mozambique nightjar inhabits woodlands, savanna and scrublands. It is also called the square-tailed nightjar and is found in southern, central and western Africa. Photographed at night in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
