Description
Meadow brown butterfly and praying mantis. The meadow brown butterfly (Maniola jurtina) lives in grassland habitats. It is seen here flying over a field of straw stubble. The common praying mantis (Mantis religiosa) is a carnivorous insect. It waits on vegetation for an insect to pass, which it captures with its long front legs. M. religiosa grows up to eight centimetres in length.
