Description
Stick insect. Insect breeder holding a jungle nymph stick insect or New Guinea walking stick (Heteropteryx dilatata). This plant-imitating insect generally remains immobile during the day, feeding off vegetation at night. The imitation of plants by animals is known as phytomimesis. This form of camouflage renders the insect almost invisible when it is stationary. H. dilatata is native to Malaysia.
