Lower jaw bone, 3D micro-computed tomography (CT) scan. This lower jaw bone (mandible) is an archaeological specimen that was scanned as part of a study by researchers looking at teeth mineralisation. Several teeth (purple) are present. This specimen dates from the medieval period. The scan was constructed from over 4800 virtual X-ray slices.
