Description
Grey fox. Grey fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) sitting in snow. This fox inhabits woodland and rocky areas from southern Canada to northern South America. It is a nocturnal hunter, and eats almost anything it can find. It is a good climber, and raids birds' nests in trees. It also eats small mammals, insects, fruit and berries. It is a solitary animal, occupying a large territory which is patrolled nightly. It sleeps by day in a den in a hollow log, rock crevice or a hole excavated by another animal. The grey fox may reach a length of up to 75 centimetres. Photographed in Minnesota, USA.
