Fog over Salcombe Estuary, Devon, UK. This is also called Kingsbridge Estuary. This estuary is an example of a ria because no river flows into it, only a few small streams. A ria is a type of sunmergent coastal landform. It is formed either as a result of a rise in global sea levels or sinking land. When this change occurs, valleys that were previously at sea level become flooded.
