Description
Florida cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus conanti). This is the Florida subspecies of the cottonmouth snake, found in wetlands of Florida, USA. It is mostly active at night, hunting small amphibians, fish, mammals and other small animals. It is a poisonous snake, using its venom to subdue its prey. It can reach a length of about 1 metre. Photographed at the Central Florida Zoo, Florida, USA.
