Description
Two ceramic drug jars with coats of arms, dating from the early nineteenth century, Italy. Decorated jars such as this one were used to store medicines such as pills, syrups and oils. They would be displayed in apothecaries, and the elaborate decorations reflected the prosperity of the apothecary store.
