Description
Cuttlefish eggs. Cluster of eggs from a flamboyant cuttlefish (Metasepia pfefferi). This cephalopod is found in tropical Indo-Pacific waters off northern Australia, southern New Guinea, as well as numerous islands of the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. It is the only known poisonous cuttlefish. It is as toxic as the blue-ringed octopus and only one of three toxic cephalopods known, although its toxicity has now been disputed. Photographed in the Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
