Description
Crude oil tanker storage tank. Workers checking the piping inside of one of the tanks used to store crude oil on a Suezmax crude carrier. Suezmax carriers are so-called as they are the maximum size of vessel able to navigate the Suez Canal. They are generally between 120,000 to 200, typically have a double-walled hull to help minimise the leakage of oil from the tanks, or the entrance of water, in the event of an accident. Crude oil carriers are among the largest tankers, with ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs) reaching over 440,000 deadweight metric tons (DWT). Photographed at Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea, the world's second largest shipyard.
