Description
A common earwig (Forficula auricularia) resting on a dry seed head of aqualegia. The common, or European, earwig is a common omnivorous garden insect. Earwigs (order Dermaptera) can be found on every continent except Antarctica. These insects are usually nocturnal, spending the day in moist, dark cavities. Photographed in Somerset UK in September.
