Description
Banded boxer shrimp (Stenopus hispidus). This tropical shrimp is a cleaner. It picks parasites from the skin of fish at designated 'cleaning stations'. This is an example of mutualistic behaviour: the shrimp benefits by receiving food, and the fish is rid of harmful parasites. The banded coral shrimp is a popular aquarium species. Photographed off Mabul, Malaysia.
